The trial of Johnny Depp v. Amber Heard is underway. Today’s episode is a case brief breaking down the causes of action in this defamation case. There has been quite a lot of litigation in this case leading up to it getting to court for trial. This trial has very high stakes for both parties, a star-studded witness list, and a lot of evidence. The estimates for this trial are that evidence will take six weeks. Johnny Depp has sued Amber Heard for defamation over an OpEd she published without naming him, he is seeking $50 million in damages. Amber Heard has counter sued Depp for defamation for statements his lawyer made calling her statements that she was battered by Depp a hoax, she is seeking $100 million in damages. This jury is in for a whirlwind trial. Thankfully for us, there will be cameras in the courtroom and I will be following along.
