Team Murdaugh has asked the South Carolina Supreme Court to remove Judge Newman from hearing Murdaugh’s motion for a new trial and future cases. That includes the trial set for later this month.

They allege that Newman is a witness for the Motion for New Trial because of Clerk of Court Becky’s behavior, which he is aware of. That motion revolves around alleged jury tampering.

For the remaining Murdaugh cases, they claim Judge Newman has expressed his opinion regarding Murdaugh’s guilt, which violates Murdaugh's right to a fair and impartial trial.

Things are going to get busy in South Carolina.
