The Girardi Keese empire crumbled at the end of 2020 and landed in an extensive bankruptcy that has also spawned a plethora of civil cases that are still pending. What we hadn’t seen is anyone being held criminally responsible. Judge Durkin in Illinois wrote a scathing opinion in the contempt proceeding stating that some of Tom Girardi’s and Girardi Keese's behavior was unquestionably criminal. The US Attorney’s agreed, and Tom Girardi is now facing 18 counts alleging the theft of over 18 million dollars from clients. Will he be competent to stand trial, given that he is in a conservatorship? I am breaking it down in this episode.
